- Talk about taking advantage of the late-season warmth we had Thursday.
A hunter here was fed up with not seeing any deer. Instead he took entertainment into his own hands.
Will Gabrich from Fredonia decided to take his sailboat out for one last spin on Hilderbrand Lake south of Rhinelander just off Highway 17.
Will and his friends are up here for deer hunting, but haven't seen any success since they bagged three on opening day.
"The deer are not moving," Gabrich said. "So I decided to go out for a sailboat ride because the wind was just beautiful on the lake and I haven't been sailing in a couple years so a buddy of mine helped me get the boat out and we went sailing today. My feet were cold, but the rest was fine. The sun was out and I had a good time."
Gabrich can't remember a Thanksgiving this warm since about 1994.
He thinks this will be the last run for his sailboat this year.
