- Although many have turkey on their minds during the holiday season, unemployment and finding a job still weighs heavily on others.
Only 25-percent of jobs are posted when employers seek to fill positions.
So knowing an insider and networking may be your only key to finding the right job.
Jennifer Sackett is a Financial Employment Planner, "You want to talk to everyone that you know. Let them know what kinds of jobs you're interested in. Have them keep their eyes open for any opportunities that they might come across for you."
You want to make a list off all the people you know, including friends, family and even acquaintances, "After you make the list, talk to those people that you know and let them know what kinds of jobs you're looking for. Ask them to keep an eye open if they hear of anything. Then from there if you get a job lead, then absolutely talk to the HR department."
If you do get hired for the job, make sure to still continue expanding your network so you're prepared for the next time you may need a new job.
