Bell Ringers Needed for Holiday Red Kettle Campaign Submitted: 11/14/2012
RHINELANDER - Next week most of us will thankfully sit down to a meal with family, but not everyone is as fortunate. So the Salvation Army is gearing up for their famous red kettle campaign- and they need an army of bell ringers to help their efforts reach across the community.

"The Rhinelander Salvation Army raises money to help people in our community with transportation, with housing, and with healthcare, in an emergency situation," said Kim Swisher, a volunteer coordinator with the Rhinelander Salvation Army.

$36,000 is the goal for this year in Rhinelander. The red kettles and bells will go out starting Friday. They need volunteers Monday through Saturday between 8 am and 6 pm, up until Christmas eve.

The Salvation Army makes a big difference all across the U.S., but 86% of local donations, stay local to make a difference here.

"[Right now] We have Salvation Army efforts going on the east coast- up and down the coast. But the majority, 86 cents [of each dollar], stays right here in town," said Swisher.

Volunteers can sign themselves up, online, on the Salvation Army's calendar. Click the link below to visit the Rhinelander Salvation Army website.
