Merrill finally gets to state volleyball tourney Submitted: 10/29/2012
MERRILL - The Merrill Bluejays accomplished something they have not done since 1982 - qualify for state.

Merrill defeated Marshfield in last weekend's Division One Section Final.

With the victory - Merrill will play in the state quarterfinals in Green Bay. Bluejays face Muskego at 4:30pm on Thursday. Merrill is (41-3) while Muskego is (31-11) and state-ranked.

Bluejays won a state crown back in 1981. Now they are energized to bring home even more hardware.

In Division 2, Tomahawk is off to state for the fourth straight season. The Hatchets swept Barron in the section final. On Friday, Tomahawk takes on Kettle Moraine Lutheran - ranked 3rd in the state. Match is scheduled to begin at 4pm. Tomahawk finished as the state runner-up last year.

And in D-4... Newman Catholic is back for the 4th time in 5 seasons. Fighting Cardinals battle Hillsboro also on Friday.
