WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Saturday marked the 100th state boys cross country meet, and the 40th girls competition.
Several area athletes among the compeditors in 6 different championship races. Races were delayed an hour due to frost on the course.
But when they finally got rolling, some solid times were turned in. In Division 2 boys, Tomahawk's Bryan Tomek finished 9th. He completed the course in 16 minutes, 15.12 seconds - third fastet time in school history.
Other area results include Chequamegon boys finished 3rd in the D-3 team results. Stevens Point Boys also 3rd in D-1.
On the Girls side, Lakeland's Delaney Fitzpatrick was 7th in Division Two. In D-3, the lone Northwoods runner to reach the podium - Natalie Miller of Three Lakes finished 6th.
Laona/Wabeno girls finished 5th in Division 3, while Stevens Point girls finished 12th in D-1. Devin Sauvola of Northland Pines was 40th in D-2 boys.
