- In the N-F-L, a running back reaching 2,000 yards is a special season. That's over 16 games. In high school, reaching two grand - unbelievable.
That's the best way to describe Crandon senior running back Hayden Krueger's year.
Krueger ran for 384 yards last week vs. Menominee Indian. He finished the regular season at 2,006 yards. That's tops in the state by 280 yards!
He's also the state leader averaging just over 250 rushing yards per game.
Oh and if that's not enough - he leads the team in total tackles, solo tackles, receiving yards, and rushing touchdowns.
"I was happy," Krueger said. "I wanted to thank all my coaches and blockers. I couldn't have done it without them."
Hayden's younger brother, Morgan is one of those key blockers.
"I'm just doing my job," said Morgan. "Really happy when he did that (reached 2,000 yards)."
Crandon won the Northern Lakes Conference crown. The Cardinals travel to Marathon Friday night.
