- More than half a million dollars is headed to Nicolet College to help with manufacturing training.
The school got the grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
With a tough job scene in the Northwoods, an education in manufacturing from Nicolet can help students get a job.
"We are perfectly poised to really help to have skilled labor - the very jobs that our manufacturers are looking to fill," says Nicolet President Elizabeth Burmaster.
Nicolet will buy manufacturing training equipment with the money, as well as hire a new instructor and academic advisor.
The school now also offers an industrial maintenance certificate at the school.
"Anyone who is interested in really getting some good, marketable skills that can get you a good paying job - this is the program for them at Nicolet," says Burmaster.
The $550,000 grant means the college has gotten $1.3 million in grant money for manufacturing education since July.
