WAUSAU - Friday on the high school gridiron, scrimmages wre taking part throughout the state. Several more will be held on Saturday

Wausau West hosted a 6-team scrimmage Friday morning. Wausau West and East, as well as Rhinelander, Lakeland, Antigo, and Merrill taking part.

Teams open the regular season next week.

After butting heads with their teammates, for the players and coaches it's nice to face someone in a different colored uniform.


"It's not a compeditive enviroment, it's not a real game," said Wausau West head coach Kevin Grundy. "People just want to get some work in and come out healthy."

As for Wausau West, the Warrriors are looking to climb out of the Valley Association's North Division basement.

Wausau West finished with just 2 wins a year ago. But coach Grundy feels there is room for growth.
