MADISON - The DNR received nearly 3,000 applications yesterday to participate in this fall's wolf hunt.
The hunt is scheduled to begin October 15th and runs through the end of February.
The DNR plans to issue 2,010 permits through a lottery.
Any applicants not selected will earn a preference point that improves their chances in next year's drawing.
The agency began taking lottery applications yesterday.
The application period ends Aug. 31st.
