WOODRUFF - A gunman opened fire during a midnight showing in a movie theatre outside of Denver Colorado, leaving atleast 12 dead and dozens more injured.
That incident has left many movie goers and theatre owners on edge across the nation.
Lakeland Cinema Manager, Chris Pertile, said of the event, “It was shocking. But it’s one of those things that’s a freak occurrence.”
While a masked gunman opened fire during a midnight showing of Dark Knight Rises in a movie theatre outside of Denver Colorado, hundreds of people in the Northwoods lined up to see one of this summer’s most anticipated films.
“There were a lot of people dressed up. People coming in with masks. You brush it by. I don’t know if that’s how he came in or what. As me selling tickets I would just think ‘oh he’s dressed up from a character from the movie," saidf Pertile.
Movie goer, Scott Wolf, said “It’s honestly terrible that human beings do those types of things to each other. I don’t really have the right words because I can’t really express how awful something like that is.”
Wolf saw Dark Knight Rises at midnight at Lakeland Cinema. He came back Friday for a second dose of the Batman sequel.
SOT: (Scott Wolf/Going to see Dark Knight Rises) “I do feel safe in this community it’s in the back of my mind a little bit though.”
Despite this tragic event, it is not deterring movie goers from seeing the Dark Knight. Reps from Lakeland Cinema said they expect a big turnout going into the weekend.
The gunman has been identified as 24-year-old James Holmes.
He is currently in custody.
