Soccer Shelter Progress Hits Snag Submitted: 07/20/2012
RHINELANDER - The Rhinelander soccer complex is working to expand facilities and has hit a speed bump in its progress.

The Rhinelander Soccer Club has gathered donations, poured the footings for a new shelter and now...discovered more money is needed to continue.

The $300,000 shelter, 3-years in the making, now sits idle as volunteers look for more funding to raise the walls and hook-up city sewer and water.

Volunteer Organizer Katy Dyreby says, "Some people are excited about having the opportunity to host tournaments here, which brings revenue into the community. So if you're a business person, that might be a priority."

The remainder of the cement foundation is being poured in the coming weeks and club volunteers are eager to erect the building if they can find the financial support, "Hope the donations continue to come in. The small donations are helpful because they motivate and energize the volunteers. The big donations, of course, are the real key donations that will get this built."

The remaining goal is $100,000 to finish this plan and bring a soccer shelter to Rhinelander.

Organizers say it's often hard to find everyone who wants to donate to projects like this, so they ask you to conact the Rhinelander Soccer Club if you'd like to help fund the soccer shelter.
