TOWN OF PELICAN - An early Monday morning house fire in the Town of Pelican leaves three people homeless and authorities searching for a cause.
Firefighters were able to get the homeowners out and the fire under control quickly
Pelican Fire Department Captain Mark Theiler says many departments worked together to contain the flames and rescue the people and their pets,
"Our initial attack was Rhinelander Fire through the front door here. Members from the Pelican Fire Department through the front door. The three occupants had already escaped and were transported by Oneida County ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital."
Although the cause of the fire is unknown, fire crews say it started in the hallway.
Now the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation is also looking into the cause of the fire.
The American Red Cross has already stepped in and provided food, clothing and a place for the family to stay for the next few days while they get back on their feet.
