Full House at Oneida County Republican Dinner Submitted: 05/06/2012
MINOCQUA - It was a packed house at the Oneida County Republicans annual Lincoln/Reagan Day dinner Saturday night.

Gearing up for a long year of elections, the Republican Party of Oneida County held it's Lincoln/Reagan Day dinner with record attendance. One of the topics at the forefront of many minds was the recall election.

"I believe that at the end of the day Scott will prevail," says Eric Hovde, a U.S. Senate Candidate.

"I'm very confident and optimistic we're going to see Scott Walker reelected. That's our top priority," says Mark Neumann, a U.S. Senate Candidate.

"The process and politics have been consumed by the recalls. And I think we're, for the most point, at a standstill until we get passed June 5th," says Rep. Sean Duffy, from the 7th Congressional District.

"June 5th, I'm standing here to tell you folks, will be the most important day in political history ever in the state of Wisconsin," says Jeff Fitzgerald, Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly.

As varried as the menu, the political platter was just as divierse, serving a wide range of topics; one of them being the impending retirement of long time Assemblyman Dan Meyer.

"I'm proud of being a conservative and representing the people of the 34th assembly district," says Rep. Meyer, from the 34th Assembly District.

"It was really nice to have somebody down there who was a great intellect, who was a great philosophical conservative, and who wasn't a politician. I will miss that about not having Dan around the capitol," says J.B. Van Hollen, Wisconsin Attorney General.

"They'll look back on his record and go, 'Here's a guy who loves the North land, who went to Madison and fought for their interests the only way a guy from northern Wisconsin can'," says Rep. Duffy.

"He's probably the person I look up to the most that I've served with in the legislature, and has the most integrity of any man I've ever served with. So please give a round of applause for Dan Meyer," says Fitzgerald.

The event included speeches from three of the four candidates for US senate, rally cries for the recall election and of course, lots of good old fashioned campaigning.

"Without question my first task is to try to deal with the debt. We have a fiscal crisis that is very serious in this country," says Hovde.

"I'm looking forward to joining Ron Johnson as another conservative in the United States Senate," says Neumann.

"We need Republicans and Democrats working together. I look forward to making sure that it happens," says Rep. Duffy.
