Chinese Students and Teachers Visit Northwoods Submitted: 05/03/2011
MANITOWISH WATERS - Some Northwoods students are getting a global experience as they welcome Chinese teachers and students for a week as part of an exchange program.

Two students and two teachers are spending the week sharing their experiences in China and learning some of our lifestyles. Liu Shufang
7th Grade Teacher in China, says, ""Teachers are very relaxed and a teacher can sit anywhere. Both stand and sit, and they can do anything, but in my school we can't. So I think it's a wonderful class, I like it."

Chinese student Chen Shuo says, "In my class, it's big and so many students, and here there are few students and we're relaxed. I like this class."

Chinese student Zhao Junke says, "People are very friendly here."

Students from North Lakeland school traveled to China last year to experience a whole new learning environment.

Joey Jirikowic visited China and says, "With their teacher, they sit at the front of the classroom at a desk. But with our teacher sometimes they walk around and hand out assignments and stuff. But their teacher mostly just stays at the front of the classroom."

Maggie Sanderson also took the trip, "Their school is a lot more focused on certain things like reading and English, like things that will help you in life. Our school is too, but we have like art class and stuff like that, creativity and self expression type things."

The Chinese students will stay in the Northwoods until the end of the week and then head back to China to share their stories of the Northwoods life.
