Former Northwoods Teacher Sentenced to Prison Submitted: 10/30/2008
MILWAUKEE - Daniel Markofski taught at North Lakeland Elementary and was a teacher and assistant principal at Arbor Vitae Woodruff school.

Most recently the 47-year-old was the principal of Spring Grove Elementary School in McHenry County, Illinois, when he was arrested in April.

He admitted to picking up two girls in Milwaukee and taking them to a nearby motel, drinking wine coolers, smoking marijuana, and watching a pornographic movie with them.

He pleaded guilty in September to having sex with a child 16 or older and to two counts of exposing a child to harmful material.

This week he was sentenced to one year in prison and 18 months of extended supervision.

Markofski will also have to register as a sex offender.
